Do it yourself - Solid Perfume Balm

Heike Zelnhefer
Mother's Day is fast approaching and you may want to make something special. There is still enough time to make this wonderful solid perfume balm that makes everyone's heart sing.

This solid Perfum Balm is a wonderful way to nurture your skin while applying some floral scent. I made this one with Joy Young Living Essential Oil blend so it has a hint of Jasmine & Rose as well as an undertone of Ylang Ylang. This perfume balm is mood elevating and lasts for a couple of hours.

It is so easy to make!

You will need for 1 ounce / 28 ml the following utensils:

  • 1 1-ounce container such as a tin container
  • Pyrex or glass container that is heat resistant
  • Popsicle sticks or glass rod to stir
  • Double boiler or pan
  • 7 mg Shea Butter
  • 7 ml Jojoba Oil
  • 7 ml Coconut Oil
  • 7 mg Beeswax
  • about 15-20 drops of Essential Oils depending on how strong you want the balm to be
How to prepare the balm:
  1. Add the jojoba oil and the beeswax into the glass container or pyrex.
  2. Heat & let the beeswax melt in a double boiler (or a pan filled with water)
  3. Add the coconut oil and let it melt.
  4. Remove from the heat and add your essential oils while stirring.
  5. Pour into the tin container and let it sit and solidify.

You can use any essential oil that you like as long as it is a high quality essential oil. As I mentioned, I used Joy from Young Living which has the following single oils in the blend:
  • Bergamot (Citrus bergamia)
  • Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
  • Geranium (Pelagonium graveolens)
  • Rosewood (Aniba rosaeodora)
  • Lemon (Citrus limon)
  • Mandarin (Citrus reticulata)
  • Jasmine (Jasminum officinale)
  • Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile)
  • Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii)
  • Rose (Rose damascena)

This recipe can also be adjusted to make Lip Balms or a Body Balm for tired muscle. I just made a Cold & Flu rub.

Have fun and enjoy
