ICE or HEAT?
The question I probably come across most in my practice is: When do I use heat and when is it better to use ice ? Although the answer is somewhat complex depending upon symptoms and condition, one rule of thumb applies: Do not use heat on any fresh injury! During physical trauma blood vessels are broken and consequently blood will leak into surrounding soft tissue. Heat increases circulation, causing even more blood to flow into injured area. This will create more swelling and pain, as well as increased scar tissue formation down the road. My recommendation... Read More

learning something new
"the more I practi c e the luckier I get." Arnold Palmer a few small tools for making big changes by sarah barrett lepore It can be a bear to add a healthy habit into your life, at least one that STICKS. It makes the mind scavenge to the end of it's crevices looking for a glimmer of an excuse to do that old behavior until there simply aren't any justifiable reasons left. The pain brought about by the old way has to get so big that the new way becomes THE ONLY CHOICE.  In most cases that ... Read More

“A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety.” – Aesop wake it up and shake it up by sarah barrett lepore Since December my stress coping skills have included french fries, beer, chocolate, chips, cheese, and a resounding YES to anything "buffalo" flavored. If it’s a truffle fry, its especially mine. One day for lunch all I had was a milk chocolate bar with pretzels in it. Mind you, I ENJOY eating "healthy" and have my entire life. I've gone decades with no desire for junk food. Have wanted real food ... Read More

"the only thing we have to fear is…fear itself." Franklin D. Roosevelt HEART vs HEAD by sarah barrett lepore Opening the channel between the heart and the head is a large task in our current life pace. We typically aren't taught to listen to our hearts with much regard. We allow the almighty brain to rule our every decision, big or small. The rational thinking mind is so valued, and of course it's valuable, however there must be opportunity to allow the heart to lead alongside the brain.... Read More

What is Reiki?
